Dancing the night away is one of the best ways to finish a great day, but there are time when the dance floor isn’t packed but you want it to be. Here are some tips for having a packed dance floor and a high energy party of a reception.
ANNIVERSARY DANCE:
The anniversary dance is a great way to get people on the dance floor while getting a sweet slow dance shot of all the married couples. The anniversary dance is where all the married couples are invited to the dance floor and the DJ begins eliminating guests like, “if you have been married for less than 5 years, leave the dance floor.” This happens until the couples married the longest are the only ones left. This is a special way to get a sweet picture of grandparents dancing typically.
YOU:
When the bride and groom are on the dance floor, it leads to a fuller, more energetic dance floor. The energy of the day centers around you. If you aren’t on the dance floor, your guests probably won’t be either. When you are on the dance floor having fun, your guests want to be out there with you. This is why you should give yourself plenty of time to mingle during dinner before the dance floor opens. Once it’s open, you should spend most of your time out there IF you want a lively party.
YOUR FAVORITE PARTY SONGS:
Pick songs that you love and are high energy. You know how you get when **that** song comes on and you just have to belt it out and dance along…make your playlist filled with all your favorite songs. I personally am not a huge fan of line dances, but hey..they get people out on the dance floor.
FUN PROPS:
Wedding dance floor props are always on trend and they are a great way to bring up the energy and keep people on the dance floor longer. Light up props are great additions to fun reception photos. Here are some ideas of our favorite props
Wearable props: sunglasses, hats, flip flops
Light up props: foam glow sticks, glow necklaces
LIVE MUSIC:
There is something about a live band that gets people to their feet and swinging along. Want your reception to feel like a concert? A live band is the way to go!
